Nestled in the heart of Kerala’s Western Ghats, Thekkady is a paradise for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. Surrounded by misty hills, dense forests, and sprawling spice plantations, this hill station offers a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Whether it’s trekking through lush trails, boating on tranquil lakes, or exploring the vibrant wildlife, Thekkady promises an unforgettable experience.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Exploring Periyar Wildlife
Since Thekkady does not have a direct airport or railway station, you will either arrive at Kottayam Railway Station or Madurai Airport, where our executive will receive you for a scenic drive to your resort. The winding roads through the Western Ghats will set the tone for the adventure ahead.
After checking in and freshening up, set out to explore the world-famous Periyar National Park, home to a rich variety of wildlife including elephants, deer, bison, and even elusive tigers. Take a guided safari through the lush forest to witness the raw beauty of Kerala’s wilderness.
Later, head to the nearby Periyar Lake, one of India’s largest artificial lakes, where a boat ride offers breathtaking views of the surrounding forests and a chance to spot animals coming to the water’s edge. This peaceful cruise is the perfect way to end your first day in Thekkady.

Day 2: A Day of Adventure & Culture
Start your day with a hearty Kerala-style breakfast before diving into a full day of exploration. Your first stop is Kumily, a serene town known for its vast tea plantations. Stroll through the lush estates and enjoy the aroma of fresh tea leaves.
Next, visit Murikkady, a picturesque picnic spot surrounded by rolling hills and cardamom plantations. For those seeking adventure, a trek to Pullumedu will reward you with panoramic views of verdant landscapes. (Ensure to get permission from the local forest department for trekking.)
For a touch of spirituality, visit Mangala Devi Temple, an ancient shrine nestled deep within the forest. It offers a peaceful retreat and an opportunity to soak in Kerala’s cultural heritage.
In the afternoon, take on an exciting bamboo rafting experience—a unique activity that lets you float through the tranquil waters of Periyar, offering a different perspective of the lush jungle.
Wrap up your day with a visit to a spice plantation, where you can learn about and purchase some of Kerala’s finest natural spices, including black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove.

Day 3: Leisure & Departure
Wake up to the crisp mountain air and enjoy a leisurely breakfast before bidding farewell to Thekkady. Take one last stroll through the scenic surroundings before our executive drops you back at Kottayam Railway Station or Madurai Airport for your onward journey. Depart with a refreshed mind and a heart full of memories.
